Time-Honoured Bakes for the Traditional at Heart

While modern flavours continue to evolve, some festive classics still hold a special place for those who appreciate heritage bakes. At The Pine Garden, you’ll find rare traditional mooncakes that aren’t commonly seen today. Each one handmade and rich in cultural roots.

1. Crispy Skin Mooncakes

Unlike snow skin or the usual baked mooncakes, these feature an extra flaky, layered pastry that crisps up beautifully in the oven.

The texture is light and crackly, with a rich filling inside, offering a lovely contrast between crunch and softness. Popular during the Mid-Autumn season, this mooncake variety is increasingly hard to come by.

2. Teochew La Gao (潮汕朥糕)

La Gao is a traditional Teochew steamed mooncake made with aromatic pork lard, giving it a smooth, chewy texture and delicate fragrance.

This old-school favourite is a rare find today, but at The Pine Garden, it’s lovingly handcrafted the traditional way – staying true to its heritage roots.
